I haven't been hiding I swear.....

Ok, so maybe just a little bit!  Have you been outside?
The heat index in Va is 125 degrees today,
WHAT???
Oh my goodnes it's getting hotter and hotter everyday.

Ok so if you hung in there through my whining about the heat check this out!

I had some SUPER GREAT news come my way last week and that is why I haven't posted.
There is a Boutique in Charleston WV that is going to be selling
APRIL VIOLET DRESSES
Can I get a "Woot! Woot!"
I have been sewing like crazy with some really cute fabrics!
My mom and I went together and picked them out, we did very well.
{Very strange because our tastes are very different}

I am so super excited!
There is more exciting news to share as well, I will post more about that soon
so keep your eyes peeled :giggle:

Here's a pic of a couple of the dresses that are completed,
the others need hems sewn  ;)

The fabric below is what I'm working on now :)

What we have been up to this week ;)

We haven't left the house in 2 days. It's been over 100 and it's just too hot for me to breathe. I have done some 'crafting' with our sons! I bought some yarn by number kits from the dollar store. they were ok the boys absolutely loved them. My youngest loves glitter glue so that's what we used ;)

I have sworn for many years there will never
ever be any "Play-Doh" in our house but as hott as it's been and as bored as we have been,
I bought some.
{yeah, you just never know what you will do when you have children}

We haven't touched it yet but it's there in the laundry room laughing at me......I can hear it,
"You lose, I win hahahaha!"
Twisted a little I know but Play-Doh is a pain in the you know whatsa.

Chris went to another car show last weekend and won!
All the proceeds from everything bought and registrations went to
Childrens Miracle Network
What an awesome event to participate in.

We were up late last night due to a heat storm
Thunder, Lightning the works.
The nice thing after me and the chilldren panicking and finally sleeping
EVERYONE SLEPT LATE!

I was able to get up and sew with no interuptions.
I got 3 dresses done!
Yes, that's right
{THREE}

If you have children then you know this a HUGE rarity.

Here is what I made today!

Adding them to inventory tonight.
They are all 6-9mths but will fit 3mths to I'm most certain.

Thanks for stopping in

Black Widows, Frogs and a new dress ;-)

Caution:
Those that suffer from Arachniphobia please do not read this post as there is a picture of a Black Widow working on his egg sac.

Black Widows LOVE rocks and any dark un-disturbed hiding places.  My mom has a rock bed with a few plants growing in it and it is surrounding by rock edging.  Well, we have seen our fair share of spiders.  Our 'Funnel Web' spiders are pretty cool looking and harmless they build pretty strong webs.  They keep other bugs away such as mosquitos, flies etc....
The Black Widows web is thick like nylon and very different from other webs.  We have one that was working very hard on her egg nest and YES we did destroy it as well as poison her.  I know this sounds harsh but we have 2 small children and cannot risk them being bit by her or her hatchlings.  Personally I have a thing for spiders and love watching them work.
Here is a picture of her working:

This photo was not edited and she and her egg sac really are/were that big.  Please let this be a note to all other Black Widows
"You are NOT welcome here!"

Frogs:
We have ALOT of frogs around the yard and house as well.  Our sons sure do get a kick out of all of them.
They are mostly babies so I have been trying to find the 'nesting' spot so I can show them some tadpoles ;-)

and now......
Drumroll please (boom boom  tap tap ratatat tat :giggle:)

Don't you just LOVE it?????

Thanks for stopping in!

Been busy busy!!!!

Just a quick post as I give the sewing machine a breather :-)
I have been so super busy sewing the cutest cuddliest diapers and the most darling little girls dresses
to ever come across my machine.  I am very excited about the Grand Re-Opening on June 20th 2011
I have set a time for 5pm for the Inventory to be stocked and items available for purchase.
A little background as to whjy this is a 'Re-Opening'.
I sold my diapers on Diaperswappers for 2yrs (2008-2010)

My dresses were sold at a consignment store and on diaperswappers as well.
I moved in 2009 and everything kind of flipped upside down. The shop Chris (My Fiance of 6yrs now) worked for was closing down. I had to stop sewing and go to work full time outside the home and he took on being a stay at home dad. Everything has finally come back together and YAY! I can open back up!
I hope you join me back here on the 20th to see the sweetness I will have available for your little ones :-)

About me and how April Violet came to be...

Hello!  My name is Angelina and I am the mom behind April Violet.

I am originally from R.I where I spent my childhood years.  R.I is full of many of my favorite people and things, Family, the ocean and yummy food!  My Grandmother
who is just the sweetest woman I will ever meet in life taught my sisters and I how to sew by hand and crochet.  She has alot of patience because there were three of us girls ages 6, 12, 15 at that time.  I didn't take much to crocheting but sewing really interested me.  For one thing I wasn't very good at crocheting so sewing was just going to be it.  We weren't wealthy but we knew how to make due with the things we had or were given.  I can remember my father bringing me a HUGE roll of spandex
Yes, Spandex we are talking early 80's  and he told me this should keep you busy for a while.  It did!  The first thing I made with it was an Indian/Tribal costume.  It was gorgeous! I will have to find a picture and scan it to post here, I know my mother still has it!
Top, skirt, headband and beads to match, my family was very impressed.  Me, not so much, I knew there was more practicing and and many more things to try before I would impress myself.

In my early teens we moved to V.A and I fell in LOVE with Va.  I really did alot of growing here in Va and this is my home.  I have met a variety of people and personalities over the years and each person has touched my life in one way or another.  I continued to sew but only as things needed repair or I wanted to inexpensively update our home.

I met a wonderful man named Chris while working at a service station in Dc and we became very close friends.  He and his family helped me through a very rough time and during all of this we were falling in love with eachother.  It really was and still is just beautiful.   When we found out we were expecting my sewing drive kicked in!  I was working full time while pregnant so I didn't have too much time to sew.  A few diapers here and there and a blanket.  When we were expecting our youngest son I was a stay at home mother and had time then to sew.  He was really shocked how I just dove in and started sewing what he called "The coolest things."  Chris had no idea that I knew how to sew but realized very quickly I could and how much I enjoyed it.  Our sons had a 'cool' selection of cloth diapers, blankets, pants and shorts.
I started working from home and selling my wares online.  I was shocked at all the websites that allowed me to help provide for my family from home.

Now, my Mother whom has always been so supportive of my dreams has four girls and we have seven sons between us.  I sewed alot of boyish things for a long time.  In 2008 we found out my baby sister would soon have a girl, the first girl to be born in our family in 23yrs.  That opened a whole new avenue for my sewing.  Little girls dresses for my sweet little neice Arianna, how EXCITING!   I decided I needed a name if I was going to branch out and start selling my dresses as well.  April Violet.  This name is the name of one of my sisters.

and so it all began..................

Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me and the start of April Violet,
Angelina
